Why does my OID report not merge with the CF-2A / W.As.8 Excel template?

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

This article will provide you with guidance when the OID report does not merge with the CF-2A or W.As.8 Excel template on Sage VIP Classic or Sage VIP Premier.

Resolution

The following requirements must be in place for CF2A / W.As.8 Excel template document to open successfully:

1. The report only opens the Excel template if you select to print the 'Summary' Report.

  • Select 'Summary' during the report selection screen, to generate the PDF report and merge with the Excel template.
  • The 'Detail' report selection will only generate the PDF report with the details per employee.

2. The OIDwas8.xlt Template must be in the Advisor folder

  • In the Advisor folder of the payroll system directory, an OID_ROE.xltm (for CF-2A) and OIDwas8.xltm (for W.As.8) Excel template files must be in the folder.
  • If the file is missing from the folder, please request the Sage Customer Support team to provide you with the latest template for the software release you are generating the file.

3. The file VIPCALL.exe must be in the payroll system folder

  • The application calls Microsoft Excel to open and merge with the Excel template file
  • If the file is missing from the folder, please request the Sage Support team to provide you with the latest template for the software release you are generating the file.

4. There must be no spaces in your system directory name

  • IF there are any spaces in the filename, this could result in error messages and Excel
  • For example, the folder must be 'C:\ClassicPayroll' and not 'C:\Classic Payroll'.

5. The desktop shortcut accessing the application must point to a drive letter:

  • It is a system requirement that if the application is installed and shared on a network, the server location must be mapped to a drive letter  e.g.: Y:\data\software\payroll\sage\classic\v51a and not to a UNC path e.g.: \\172.20.21.166\Public\PIR\data\software\payroll\sage\
  • The details of the mapped drive can be reviewed on the properties of the shortcut
  • We have found that in some instances, the mapped drive is not recognised by the application, and to resolve this, the mapped drive must be set as a trusted site on the computer. Refer to the article 'How to set a mapped network location as a trusted site'.

6. Microsoft .NET 3.5 must be activated on your computer

7. Microsoft Excel options must be verified to ensure the macro merge:

  • When you open the template files, ensure that you select 'Enable Macro'
    • If Macros have not been enabled, the following will be displayed at the top of the spreadsheet:
