How do I setup ODBC on a computer?

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

You would like to make use of ODBC but require assistance with the setup on Sage VIP Classic or Sage VIP Premier

Description

Before using ODBC it will require the relevant setup to be done. This setup has to be done on every computer that will be used to run ODBC reports.

This article will guide you through installing ODBC on a Windows 64-bit Operating System. It is very important that no one is accessing the payroll application or running reports at the time of the installation.

The installation requires local administrative rights on both the workstation and the payroll application directory.

Resolution

We have a video available on Youtube to guide you through the installation process on Windows 10 64-bit, which is applicable to Windows 11 as well.

Step 1: Local Administrative Rights

NOTE: Please confirm with your IT department that you are a local administrator on the PC and the payroll application directory.

  • If you are a domain administrator, this will need to be changed.
  • Restart the computer before proceeding to Step 2.

Step 2: Checking User Account Control

  • Click on Start control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings
  • Change to NEVER NOTIFY (if not) and restart the machine
