If the installation hangs, shows a wizard error, or misses files, make sure you meet all prerequisites.
Log in as administrator for Windows.
Before installing or making admin changes, log into Windows as an Administrator and set the installation to apply to all user profiles.
How you check for admin rights in Windows depend on your version.
Windows 11
- Go to the Start Menu then click Control Panel
- Click User Accounts then Change account type
- You’ll see your account listed with its type (for example, "Administrator," "Standard user").
Contact your IT Technician or Network Administrator if you aren’t sure how to do so.
Turn off User Account Control.
Before installing Sage Pastel Payroll, turn off User Account Control, and disable your antivirus and firewall. Some features won’t work properly if UAC is on. Refer to article. How do I turn off User Account Control, if needed.
Pervasive Database Ports on Windows
To ensure proper connectivity, configure the required Pervasive database ports in the Windows firewall. How to add the Pervasive database and ports to the Windows firewall.
Windows updates.
Ensure that your machine is using the latest Windows Updates. If you’re using a different operating system, the literal will be different.
- Windows 11: Go to Start, then Settings, Windows Update, and click "Check for updates."
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.
Ensure that you’re using Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or higher. You can check this under Control Panel on Programs and Features. The Sage Pastel Payroll installation will install this if it's not detected. Contact your IT Technician.
Sage Pastel Payroll downloaded installation files.
If you have downloaded Sage Pastel Payroll installation files, ensure that the file downloaded is the correct size. Check on the Download manager on the install file under Size.
Server Support
Sage Pastel Payroll runs on Windows Server 2019 and 2022 (recommended for stability and fewer update interruptions). Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, no longer supported. Check Windows Server end of support for more information.
