Status 12 on any file

The error occurs when trying to open company on Sage 50cloud Pastel Accounting.

This error indicates that a file is not accessible or missing.

We suspect a Windows Update and are working to find a resolution.

Please try the below suggestions we will update this article as more infomation is received.

The error will usually indicate the file that it is having difficulty reading or writing to, an example of this is Status 12 file 3 accmasd.dat.

NOTE: The file number and name may vary as there are many files that could be affected.

• If the error does not come up on the server or other workstations, you will need your IT support to investigate your network communication for file access restrictions and/or antivirus and firewall restrictions.
• If the error happens on all computers, you will need to find your last working backup and restore it. Refer to article How do I restore a backup in Sage 50cloud Pastel Accounting? if needed.

NOTE: You will need to re-capture your lost transactions when you restore a backup.

In the case a status 12 file 41 when accessing the cashbook please follow these steps

• Do a backup of a company
• Go to the company folder and delete the file ACCBTNXX.000 (where XXX is the entry type number and 000 is the user number that the batch belongs to) 
• Log back into the company in Pastel and the error should not come up. 

NOTE: The error is caused by a corrupted batch and once the ACCBTN file has been removed the batch must be reprocessed.

Should you be getting the error when try to access the General Journal, select the payroll journal first and then open the General Journal.
