Installing and setting up Point of Sale when using a SQL database

How to install and set up Point of Sale (POS) when using a Structured Query Language (SQL) database for Sage 50cloud Pastel.

1. Go to https://pastelupdate.sagesouthafrica.co.za/.
2. Select Module and Additional Applications.
3. Select Sage Pastel Point of Sale - Microsoft SQL 2014 under the version you’re using.
4. Click Download.

Installing as a standalone or server user

You install POS after you have installed SQL.

Haven't installed SQL yet? Refer to the article - How to install SQL for Debtors Manager or Point of Sale for guidance.

1. Double click the Sage50cPastel_POS_SQLSetup[5.0.0].exe.
2. The InstallShield Wizard will launch, click Next.
3. Accept the License Agreement and click Next.
4. Select Server/Standalone and click Next.
5. Set Select database server to (local) PASTELPOS and set Connect using to Saver authen.
6. Login ID is sa and Password is Pointofsale@123 or password you used when installing SQL.
7. Click Next and Next again.
8. Click Install and when complete, click Finish.

Installing as a workstation

 NOTE: Don't run the SQL installation on the workstation. 

7. Double click the Sage50cPastel_POS_SQLSetup[5.0.0].exe.
8. The InstallShield Wizard will launch, click Next.
9. Accept the License Agreement and click Next.
10. Select Workstation and click Next.
11. Click Next and Next again.
12. Click Install and when complete, click Finish.

Setting up POS SQL

1. Open POS and click File then Open.
2. Select the drive where you locate the company, on workstation select the network drive.
3. Double click the company folder.
4. Enter your password to open the company.
5. Set the SQL Server to the machine where you installed and setup the SQL.
6. The Username is sa and Password is Pointofsale@123 or password you used when installing SQL.
7. Click Open.
