| How do I map a network drive to a drive letter for Sage VIP Classic or Premier? |
Description | Your payroll software was installed on a server and you need to create a shortcut on you workstation. A network map drive needs to be setup to ensure the payroll software shortcut can be created and the software be accessed. |
Cause | The database and system features requires a drive letter to be allocated to a shared network location on the local computer, for all the features to work as intended. |
Resolution | NOTE: When you are sharing a network location, the server location must be shared from the server (Properties > Sharing), and the users who need access to the shared folder must be added to Group or user names, and have "full control" permissions on the folder (Properties > Security).
From the workstation:
- Click in the Search bar on your desktop Taskbar and type in This PC

- The "This PC" App will appear
- Select Map network drive

- Select a letter you want for the drive:

- Copy the shared network address into the folder box (or browse to it over the network):
