Using user defined fields
Description

User defined fields are additional field where you can add information about various masterfiles. Sage allows you to add 12 fields to each masterfile.

Cause
Resolution
  1. Click Company and then Change Company Settings.
  2. Click User Defined Fields.
  3. Select the master file you want to add additional information to.
  4. Select the type of user defined field you want to add.
    • Text – You can enter an alphanumeric description, of up to 50 characters. 
    • Numeric – You can enter numbers. 
    • Date – You can enter dates. 
    • Yes / No – This is a check box, which you can check or uncheck.
  5. Give the field a heading.

Using the defined fields on masterfiles

  1. Select your masterfile 
    • Customer
    • Supplier
    • Item
    • Asset
  2. Select the User Define Fields tab.
  3. Enter the information you need next to the headings you created in the company setting

Using defined fields on documents

  1. Click Customers/Suppliers and then Transactions.
  2. Select the document type to use.
  3. Click on Options and then Show User Defined Fields.
  4. Fill in the extra information you require in the popup.

 NOTE: You must add the user defined fileds using the Sage Accounting Custom Layout.
