Namibia Social Security ceiling limit increase effective September 2026

Steps to adjust the Namibia Social Security (SSC) limits on Sage Payroll Professional. The change is effective from September 2026.

Description

The Social Security Commission announced amendments to the Employment Compensation Act and Social Security Act, effective September 2025:

  • The minimum wage ceiling remains N$500 per month
  • The maximum wage ceiling will increase from N$11000 to N$125000 per month
  • The contribution rate remains unchanged at 0.9% of the employee’s basic wage (for both the employee and employer)

Apply the adjustment in your payroll as from September 2026.

Resolution

  1. Access your Namibia company from the Company Listing screen.
  2. From the Main Screen, go to Company, then select Basic Company Information.
  3. Select Period Info (BB).
  4. Select Yes to continue.
  5. Review the company dates:
    • Confirm the company is currently in September 2026.
    • Confirm the current calendar month is 9.
  6. Select Close.
  7. Click the entry field for the SSC Month Earn. Upper Limit.
    Change the value from 11000.00 to 12500.00.
    Press Enter.

    CAUTION:

    Don't click in the field after you've change the limit. The limit will revert to the default limit until you install Release 6.7a, available mid-September 2026.

     
  8. Select Close to return to the Main Screen.

The system applies the new limits to calculate the SSC values for all eligible employees from the current month.
