Installing the 15.5% VAT update

How to install the VAT update in Sage 50cloud Pastel.

1. Download Sage 50cloud Pastel by going to https://pastelupdate.sagesouthafrica.co.za/.
2. Click Download next to the VAT update.
3. Go to the location where you saved the file you downloaded.
4. Double-click on Sage50cPartner/Xpress1946Setup.exe and click Next.
5. Read the Licence Agreement and tick “I accept the terms in the licence agreement”.
6. Click Next and select Typical Installation.
7. Select Next and tick Share the Xpress folder.
8. Click Next and click Install.
9. Once the install completes, click Finish.
10. Select Yes to restart the machine.
11. Double-click the Sage 50cloud Pastel icon.
12. Open your company.
    • You'll see a message advising you that the new tax types have been created

When opening a company on 1 May 2025, you'll receive a message about changing all your default Tax type and to increase your inclusive prices.

1. Make a backup.
   • Refer to the article Processing a backup for guidance
2. Select the option to change defaults.
3. Select the option to Increase Inclusive Selling prices and click Ok.
