Review all prerequisites before installing Sage 300 People. Meeting these requirements helps ensure a successful installation and reliable system performance. Sage recommends installing Sage 300 People on a dedicated server rather than on a Domain Controller, Exchange Server, or another business-critical server.

Prepare the web server

  • Configure Windows Server 2016 or 2019 as a web server
  • Enable ASP.NET
  • Install the latest applicable service packs
  • Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
  • Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
  • Install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8
  • Install Sage 300 People on Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 or later

Configure the SQL Server environment

  • Install a dedicated Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2019 instance for Sage 300 People, if required by corporate security policies
  • Ensure that a SQL account with Database Owner (DBO) permissions is available for the Sage 300 People database

Create the service account

  • Create a VIPAdmin account with local administrator permissions, or a Domain Administrator account if users access Sage 300 People through Active Directory
  • Grant the account network access to the Sage 300 People server folder
  • Configure the account password to never expire

Configure security and antivirus settings

  • Exclude the Sage 300 People server folder from antivirus scanning

Configure email services

  • Ensure that the mail server accepts Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) relay requests from the web server hosting Sage 300 People

Plan the server deployment

  • Do not install Sage 300 People on a Domain Controller
  • Do not install Sage 300 People on an Exchange Server
  • Do not install Sage 300 People on other business-critical servers
