This article will explain how to do a Data Take on should you need to import a number of employee details at once,after creating a new company or cycle

We advise that this functionality only be used when capturing employee information for a new comapny or cycle, and should not be used for regular payroll processing.


To create your Data Take On template from the Sage Business Cloud Payroll (SBCP) home screen:

  1. Click on the More menu
  2. Click on Data Take On
  3. Click on either Employee Details or Employee Financials depending on the information you want to import
  4. Select the Available fields you would like to add to the template
  5. Click on Create File


Open the created template and populate it it with either the employee details or employee financials. Once this has been completed and saved you can import the file back into the payroll system by:

  1. Clicking on Data Take On 
  2. Click on Import Data
  3. Select which information would you like to import
  4. Click or drag the saved spreadsheet to import the data 
  5. Click Import File
  6. Click on verify and process file
  7. Click on verify file
  8. Click on process file


The information will then be imported into the payroll system.

  NOTE: Should there be information not on the template that you would like to add to the employees details, this can be done manually on their profiles.
