Description
The ETI Minimum Wage codes are shared between all South African payroll companies. The ETI Minimum Wage codes are used as one of the qualifying tests, to determine if an employee might qualify for the Employment Tax Incentive.
Resolution
NOTE: The ETI Minimum Wage codes must be amended in the calendar month it becomes effective for the ETI calculations to be correct. If the changes are not done in the correct month, an ETI History take-on will be required.
From the Main Menu on payroll:
- Click on Payroll
- Click on Definitions
- Click on System Description Codes
- Select ETI Codes
The system will open the ETI Code screen and will list all the Minimum Wage codes and Special Economic Zone codes in the system:
- Select the code that needs to be updated and click on the Change button at the bottom of the window. This will open the Minimum Wage Code details screen.
- Press <Enter> until the Minimum Wage Value dialogue box is highlighted
- Update the value to the new applicable Minimum Wage Value. This is the minimum wage value for a complete month
- Press <Enter> to route to the Minimum Rate Per Hour dialogue box. Update the value to the new applicable Minimum Rate per Hour
- Click on OK to save the values. This will close the screen and route back to the descriptions screen.
- As soon as all the Minimum Wage Codes have been updated, you can close the screen
NOTE: If the Monthly hours have changed and Employees are linked to this code, we recommend that a new Minimum Wage Code be added, and Employees should be linked to the new code.
