Description

When creating an IRP5 submission file using the IRP5/IT3a report, the system checks the certificate data to make sure it meets requirements of the South African Revenue Service (SARS). It looks for missing details or rule errors and then prints a report listing any problems found.

Process income for Independent contractors on IRP5 source code 3616 only. An Independent Contractor can only be a natural person, with or without an identification number. 

  • Nature of Person A: Individual with an identity or passport number
  • Nature of Person B:  Individual with an identity or passport number 

Cause

The 'nature of person' isn't a natural person based on the selections on the Employee Information screen.

Resolution

Review the SARS Business Requirement Specification (BRS)

  1. Go to the SARS website.
  2. Review the BRS for the specific year of submission.

Review the employee's record details

  1. Access your payroll company.
  2. From the Main Menu, go to Employee, then select Change Employee.
  3. Select the employee as indicated on the error report.
  4. Review on the Personal Details tab:
    • The Gender can be Male of Female
    • Complete the employee's ID number or remove input
  5. Review the Statutory Details tab:
    • Select the correct Tax Status
    • Select the correct UIF and SDL settings
  6. Click Save.

Review the employee's payslip details

  1. From the Main Menu, go to Payslip, then select Payslip Information.
  2. Select the employee as indicated on the error report.
  3. Review the income - the income need to be on one earning line in source code 3616.
