Error: "Sage Deploy Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

When you run the update installer the error message message appears, and you are unable to continue with the update process.

The issues is caused by a possible corrupt Windows profile of the user.

The following can be checked before running the installer again:

• Confirm the installer is completly downloaded by comparing the file size mentioned on the download site
• Check for any outstanding Windows Updates
• Select "Run as administrator" when installing the update
• Ensure that you run the installer to a local folder where the payroll application is installed. It should not be installed over a network drive.
• Reinstall .NET 3.5 and 4.5/4.6

Should the issues persist, log in with another user profile and run the same update installer . If the installation runs without any errors, it is a clear indication user profile is corrupt, and a new user profile will need to be created and setup for the user. 

TIP: When you create a new user profile, you will need to ensure the new profile sharing permissions must be setup (users require full control).

Work-around;

• Ensure you have made a backup and not other users are accessing the system, before folloing the steps below.
• This solution also does not follow a compatibility check process.
• If you are a Total Solutions users (Premier ESS/Premier HR), ensure that applications are taken offline during the installation and upgrade process
• Visit the Software Downloads page http://payrollupdate.sagesouthafrica.co.za/totsol/ 
• Download the applicable version next to Zipped version - "Only use the zip file if the installer is giving an error".
• Extract the contents to the system folder, overwriting existing files
• Access your payroll, which will require you to update all companies to the new version.
