Minimum Wage Codes are used to be able to validate the qualifying Wage test for Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) for South African companies.

All employees linked to Wage Regulating Measures, must be linked to a Minimum Wage Code.

This guide will provide steps to create a new Minimum Wage Code.

Resolution

How to add a Minimum Wage Code:

  • From the company Main Menu, select Payroll, Definitions, ETI codes
  • Select the Minimum Wage heading
  • Select the Add button
  • This will allow you to create the new code:
    • Create an unique descriptive code (4 characters)
    • Define the Report Description (what appears on reports)
    • Define the Screen Description (what appears on-screen)
    • Define the Minimum Wage Value (for the month)
    • Define the Minimum Wage Rate Per Hour
    • Define the Monthly Hours (default 160, or can be calculated by dividing Monthly Minimum Wage by Minimum Wage Rate Per Hour)
  • Click on OK to save the new code

The code will be available to link to employees :

  • Employee Information Screen (Employment Tax Incentive tab)
  • Global Activation
