Installation via the patch file

Summary

Updating your Sage Pastel Payroll system to the latest version using the patch file. This guide will go through all the steps, and then at the end will show you screenshots of the install screen for your reference.

Resolution

  1. Click on Help, About, and check what version of Paste Payroll you're on.
  2. Navigate to the Download Manager (Alternatively in Pastel Payroll navigate to Utility → Weblinks → Download latest Version.url)
  3. Click on the Patch Updates/Previous Versions tab

  4. Select the correct patch version for the update you are currently on - Click on Download
  5. If ‘Automatic Download’ is not installed, your browser will ask you what you want to do with this file
  6. Always select the Save As or the Save option.
    1. Selecting Save As will allow you to select a directory to save the setup file to – We strongly advise using this option and downloading the setup file to your desktop.
    2. Selecting just Save will default to your usual preferred download directory (Usually the Download Folder in your directory)
  7. Once the download has successfully completed, navigate to the directory where the install file was downloaded too (Your Desktop if you used ‘Save As’ or your Downloads folder)
  8. Right-click on this file and select Run as Administrator
  9. The system will start loading the Installation Assistant
  10. Once it has completed space requirements, the Update button will become available, please click on Update
  11. Next
  12. Install
  13. Once the Installation is done it will prompt you to say Finish.

NOTE: If the update you are on is not in the list for a patch file, then you can use the full install to update.  If you are getting a message during the installation of the patch file saying that the patch file does not match the version you currently have installed, please use the full install to update.
