Description

Sage Pastel Payroll: An employee is going on maternity leave and will still receive an income from the company in the period of her maternity leave?

Resolution

If the employee gets paid, then you will have to change the UIF Status to maternity leave and change the value for the basic salary.

Change the UIF Status:

  1. Click on Edit
  2. Click on Employee Masterfile
  3. Click on the Magnifying glass and select the employee in question
  4. Click on the Statutory Tab
  5. Select the Details Tab
  6. Change the Employment Status to 09 Maternity or Adoption Leave
  7. Click on Save
  8. Click on Close and click on Yes for all pop ups.

Change the Basic Salary (Only if they are not getting their full salary)

  1. Click on Process
  2. Click on Payslips
  3. On the Default tab change the amount on code 5000 to the new amount the employee will be paid during the maternity leave
  4. Click on Save

NOTE: You will process as per usual.  You will receive a Payroll Run Exception advising that this person’s UIF status is no longer 01 – Active, and this will influence the claiming of benefits.  This exception will come up for the duration of her Maternity leave and is just a warning that this period in her employment will have an effect on her claim from the UIF department.
