Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

We explain why you receive Error #1009 when saving a certificate in SARS e@syFile™ Employer and how to resolve it. The article relates to submissions from Sage VIP Classic, Sage VIP Premier, and Sage Payroll Professional.

Description

The 'Cannot save certificate Error # 1009' appears when creating or amending a certificate in SARS e@syFile™ Employer. This usually occurs due to missing or invalid information in the employee profile.

Cause

The error occurs because SARS e@syFile™ Employer expects valid data but finds missing details or an invalid character in a field. These include the employee’s address field.

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve the error:

  1. Check the employee’s personal details in the payroll system.
  2. Ensure to complete all fields, including the country code under address details, with valid information.
  3. Remove any invalid characters from the fields.

NOTE: As SARS e@syFile™ Employer isn’t Sage software, we can’t assist with all e@syFile errors. If the issue persists, contact the SARS support desk for further guidance.
