How do I export and import Sage Intelligence reports into Report Manager?

Description

Sage Intelligence Reporting allows the easy transfer of information using simple yet powerful import and export procedures which enable the user to easily share information across installations. Using this facility, Reports can be created in one Sage Intelligence Reporting system and distributed to other Sage Intelligence Reporting systems.

Note that reports can be exported in a compressed file format, which in this case creates a .AL_ file.

Exporting a Sage Intelligence report

When you export a report, everything required to make the report functional is included in the export, including the container, template and union reports.

Open Sage Pastel Accounting, log into your Company. Select View...Intelligence Reporting...Launch...Report Manager or you can select the Icon below and follow the steps below.

  1. On the Tools tab, click Export Report.

  2. The Save As dialog window appears. Select the directory where the exported file must be saved to.
  3. You can use the Save astype drop down list to change the default compressed export file (.al_) to export file (.alx) if you don't want a compressed file.
  4. Click Save. A confirmation that your export succeeded appears.

  5. Click OK.

 

Importing a Sage Intelligence report

Importing a report that already exists in your system doesn’t affect the existing report.  An imported report that contains a template file with the same name as an existing template file must be renamed to avoid template conflicts.  You will be prompted to provide a new name for the template.

Open Sage Pastel Accounting, log into your Company. Select View...Intelligence Reporting...Launch...Report Manager or you can select the Icon below and follow the steps below.

  1. On Report Manager right click on the folder you wish to import the report in and select Import Report

  2. Browse to the location where the report you wish to import is saved and then select Open

  3. The following screen will appear, please select the Pastel V17 (Auto Connect) on Target Connection. This works for Version 19 as well

  4. Select Import
  5. Select NO when asked to create a new container

  6. Select OK for all New Container Names

  7. Your Report will then be imported successfully, select OK when you receive the message Import Succeeded
