Summary
Sage 50cloud Pastel lets you import and export data in multiple ways, depending on your needs.
Resolution
Ways to export or import data
- Reports: export report output in various formats directly when you generate the report
- Developer Toolkit (SDK): if you work with third-party developers, you can use SDK to read and write data to Pastel files
- Batch files: export and import batch files through the Batch Processing functions in their respective modules
- File Export/Import: export or import Masterfile and other records via the Export/Import function with fixed text file layouts
Access the Export/Import function
- Select File, then Export/Import.
- This function works with standard text (comma-delimited CSV) files. Each option uses a fixed layout.
Important points
- When exporting, you can select Include Field Names. This adds the column headers as the first row.
- When importing:
- The system validates the entire file first.
- If you find any errors, no records import. Fix the errors and re-import the entire file.
- If the file uses the standard layout, clear the Map Fields checkbox.
- If the file uses a different layout, select Map Fields to open the mapping screen.
- You store data in text files that other programs can read. If the data is confidential, don’t leave these files in unsecured or public folders.
