Summary

How to resolve the error 'The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140.dll was not found'. The error message appears when opening Sage VIP Classic or Sage VIP Premier.

Cause

  • One or more runtime components didn't install during an update
  • Visual C++ Redistributable files are missing

Resolution

Reinstall Sage VIP Runtime

  1. Close the payroll application.
  2. Right-click the payroll icon on your desktop and select Properties.
  3. Click Open File Location.
  4. Locate SageVIPRuntime.exe.
  5. Double-click the file to run the installation.
  6. Choose Repair, then click Next.
  7. Click Install, then Finish.

NOTE:

If the Repair option is unavailable, select Install to run a full installation. Open the application to test.

 

 Install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio

  1. Go to the learn.microsoft.com/en-us and download the correct version for your operating system.
  2. Install the package, then open the application to test.
