How to solve the error "Alternative Identification Number should have format CCYY/NNNNNN/NN when Alternate Identification Type is 1 - code 3066". The error appears when you import your IRP5 file from Sage VIP Classic, Sage VIP Premier or Sage Payroll Professional into SARS e@syFile™ Employer.

Description

You’re importing the IRP5 tax certificate file into the SARS e@syFile™ Employer software, and the import fails.  The error can come up during the Annual or Interim EMP501 submission to the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

The issue relates to a Personal Services Provider (PSP) employee record.

Cause

The company registration number format is incorrect.

Resolution

  1. Access the payroll company from your Company Listing screen
  2. From the main menu, go to Employee, then select Change Employee
  3. Select the employee record mentioned in the error 
  4. Review and correct following information on the Personal Details tab:
    • The Gender is 'Company or CC'
    • The Comp Number is in the format CCYY/NNNNNN/NN

 TIP: You'll get the correct Company Registration or CK number on the company registration documentation. 

  1. Review the following information on the Statutory Details tab:
    • The tax status is 'PSP - Company'

 NOTE: Any change on the tax status could result in a tax recalculation. 

  1. Export your IRP5 file again
  2. Import the new IRP5 file into SARS e@syFile™ Employer to make sure the error is fixed
