Process a backup in Sage 50cloud Pastel

Summary

Back up your company data in Sage 50cloud Pastel to protect against data loss and give yourself a restore point.

Resolution

  • Save your backup to an external location. Options include an external drive, a USB drive, or a third-party service like Iron Tree, OneDrive, or Dropbox
  • If you work in a multi-user environment, run the backup on the server
  • Ask all other users to sign out of the company before you start

Back up your company data

  1. From the main menu, select File, then Backup.

  2. Choose your verify method:

    • No Checking: Backs up your data without checking it. Faster, but doesn't confirm the data is readable
    • Ensure Files Readable: Checks that your data is readable before it backs up. Slower, but confirms the backup is usable

  3. If you have images, select the Images option to include them in the backup.

  4. Browse to the location where you want to save the backup.

    TIP:

    For a year-end backup, create a new folder so you can find it easily later.

      

  5. Select Process. 

    If you save to your local drive, Sage 50cloud Pastel warns you. Select Yes to continue.

  6. When the backup completes, select Yes to check the backup.

  7. When the check completes, select Close.

NOTE:

Sage 50cloud Pastel date-stamps your backup file. This stops you overwriting a previous backup and lets you spot the right file quickly when you restore.
