Sage Verify 2-factor authentication mobile app FAQs
Answers

I set up 2FA before Sage Verify was available, can I change to Sage Verify

Yes, you can remove your existing 2FA method, then set up Sage Verify.

For help with doing this, follow the how do I move to the Sage Verify mobile app article.

Can I authenticate 2FA by approving a push notification

Yes, Sage Verify makes it easy to authenticate when you log on to your Sage products and services.

When you enter your Sage account logon details with Sage Verify set up with notifications enabled, you receive a notification that you can either:

  • Tap and hold, then tap Yes, it's me to authenticate the quickest way without needing to open the app, or
  • Tap the notification to open the app, then tap Yes, it's me to authenticate it

Enable notifications when they're turned off

When you first set up Sage Verify, a message asks if you'll allow notifications. If you select 'Don't allow', you disable notifications in the app.

You can still log in using Sage Verify, however you need to get a code from the app and enter it to complete your login.

You can start using notifications after you've set up Sage Verify. For help with doing this, follow the I set up Sage Verify without notifications, how do I enable notifications article.

Push notifications not arriving

Sometimes, you expect to receive a push notification to authenticate 2FA but it doesn't arrive. When this happens, your first step is to check your device notification settings.

For help with doing this, follow the push notification not received in the Sage Verify app article.

Can I use Sage Verify to authenticate other websites

We've designed Sage Verify as an authentication method you can use when logging in to your Sage products or services.

We don’t offer support for the use of Sage Verify with non-Sage products or websites.

I don't have a Smartphone, can I authenticate using text messages?

Yes, when you set up 2FA you can select the option to Authenticate a different way.

One of the options this provides is to authenticate by Phone, with either a text message or a phone call.

Who can use Sage Verify?

Anyone with a Sage product or service and 2FA enabled can use Sage Verify. This includes employees who access their payslips online in Sage HR or Sage Employee Online Services.

However, a difference for employee users is that they can't set up a backup method to recover their account.

They still receive a recovery key when they sign up. Employee users can use the recovery key to log in even if they don't have their authentication device.
