Set up a recovery method for 2-factor authentication (2FA)
Description

Once you’ve set up your primary 2FA method and noted your recovery code, you should add a recovery method. This is an alternative email address or phone number you can use to reset your 2FA if needed or access a recovery code to log in.

Resolution
  1. Log in to account.sso.sage.com.
  2. If prompted, enter your 6-digit authentication code.

TIP: If you can't authenticate you can use your recovery code.

  3. In the box titled Recovery method not set up, select Add a recovery method.

Alternatively click 2-factor authentication, then click Add a recovery method.

  4. Enter your Sage account login details and enter your 2FA 6-digit code again to authorise adding the recovery method.

You have two options for a recovery method:

  • Phone number (text or call) -  If you use SMS text or call for your 2FA code, set a different phone number or use an email address for your recovery method
  • Email address -  You must use a different email address than the one you used for your Sage Account or use a phone number for your recovery method

TIP: If you don't have an alternative email address, create one with a free provider like Google (Gmail) or Microsoft Outlook

Set up a recovery phone number

  1. Select Add a recovery phone number.
  2. Select the appropriate country prefix.
  3. Enter your phone number.
NOTE: You can't use the same phone number as a backup recovery method if you use it for your primary 2FA method. If you don't have another phone number, select Add a recovery email address instead to set up an email address as your recovery method.
  4. Select the method to receive your code: text message or phone call.
  5. If you select Text, you'll receive a text (SMS) with a code. If you select Phone call, you receive an automated call with a 6-digit code.
  6. Enter the code in the appropriate field.

You've successfully set up your recovery method. You can now use this recovery method when you're unable to authenticate using your primary 2FA method or recovery code.

Set up a recovery email address

  1. Select Add a recovery email address
  2. Enter an email address.
NOTE: You can't use the same email address that you use to log into your Sage Account. If you don't have an alternative email address, you can create one with a free provider like Google (Gmail) or Microsoft Outlook
  3. You'll receive an email to the new email address with a 6-digit code.
  4. Enter the code from the email.

You've successfully set up your recovery method. You can now use this recovery method when you're unable to authenticate using your primary 2FA method or recovery code.

Can I change my recovery method?

You can change your recovery method whenever you want. For example, if you need to:
