The problem can arise that the coding structure used in payroll is not the same as required for the Equity reporting. On the Payroll, the employee could for example be linked to Job grade “A”, but for Equity purposes they must be linked to “Unskilled” as the Occupational level. Even though these two options have the same meaning with regard to the employee’s level within the company, the Payroll Administrator wants to see the description “Job Grade A”, while the Human Resources Manager wants the description “Unskilled”. To solve this issue, the System provides the user with a function where the payroll code (Job Grade A) can be translated into the necessary Equity code (Unskilled and defined decision making). To access the Descriptions menu, from the VIP Main Menu: Click on Payroll Click on Definitions Click on System Description Codes Click on Department, Paypoint, Job Grade or Category The Job Grade Codes were linked to Occupational Levels on the Company Equity Screen. Therefore they system will display the available options for Occupational Levels, when translating the payroll. This needs to be linked on the Company Equity Screen first, otherwise the options will not be available Same applies if wanting to make use of the Occupational Level NOTE: : You will need to work through all the codes to make sure that they are all linked, otherwise the employee will not be allocated to the correct field in the report.
