Reopening a VAT period
Description

You’ll reopen a tax period if you need to edit transactions that fall within the closed tax period.

Before you reopen the tax period, it is important to check your user permission. Sage disables the option for all users by default (including the administrator).

Cause
Resolution

Checking you have the correct permissions.

  1. Click Administration and then Control User Access.
  2. Click Permissions.
  3. Under Tax returns ensure you tick Reopen Tax Period.

Opening a closed tax period

  1. Click Reports and then Tax.
  2. Find the period you wish to reopen and click Reopen.
  3. Click Yes.

 NOTE: You can only open one tax period at a time. When you can't edit the transaction after opening the tax period,  you will need to check the lockdown date.
