Regional settings
Description

Use the correct regional settings to avoid errors and data issues in Sage Pastel Payroll.

Cause
Resolution
  1. Close all programs on your computer.
  2. Go to Start then Control Panel.
  3. Depending on your windows version, Select either Change date, time, or number formats or Region.
  4. Click Additional settings.
    Region settings screen.
  5. Update the Numbers tab.
    Set the following to:
    • The Decimal Symbol must be a full stop
    • The Digit grouping symbol must be a comma
    • The List Separator must be a comma
      Customize format with mandatory numbers fields.
  6. Click Apply once you've changed the fields to the correct characters.
  7. Click the Currency tab.
    Set the following to:
    • The Currency symbol is an R
    • The Decimal symbol is a full stop
    • The Digital grouping symbol is a comma

  8. Click Apply.
  9. Click OK.
    After closing the Customised Format screen, the original Region screen can still be open. If it isn't, repeat steps 2 and 3 above.
  10. Click the Administrative tab and ensure the Language for non-Unicode programs is English (South Africa).
